Just wondering if the p-up time of day has changed. The City of Somerville's site still notes that trash must be put out by 7am, but this morning trash p-up on Medford St (b/w Washington St & Somerville Ave) began at 6:25am this morning.
I am on Mansfield and my trash was out last night so no impact to me in that regard, but it did wake me up. And I was just confused by the timing. I noticed it last week too (on the Friday), but it was closer to 6:50/6:55 that morning.
I'd also kind of question the treatment of the full barrels that are literally getting thrown out into the street.

Thank you for contacting 311. To answer your first qt, no there has been no change to trash collection as far as the city's pick up goes, but there are private haulers who work in that area and they start pick ups as early as 6am. Is there a chance it was private or are you certain it was the city's vendor?
But to your other point, the commissioner of the DPW spoke with a manager at the trash hauling company this week regarding the treatment of barrels, we hope that will improve things, but let us know if it does not.

I agree there a lot of private trash haulers that service the apartment buildings in the immediate area, but they are usually picking up dumpsters.
From my window I could not see the company doing the pick up in the video I posted, but I could see that the barrels out were your average barrels, as well as the city-issued recycling bins. So I can't say for sure it was a city hauler versus private, just that it appeared to be city.
Thank you for noting the barrel treatment.
