Puddling area was surveyed by Technical Services after a large rain storm and no puddle could be found 6-hours after rain had stopped - this issue is closed.

I respectfully suggest that you are not using best practices on this matter. We would not report this unless it was a major flaw in the pedestrian infrastructure here. Your time frame of six hours later in June after a drought is unrealistic. This section of sidewalk chronically floods for weeks on end during late winter. The vast majority of pedestrians walk in the muddy greenbelt instead of on the flooded sidewalk. Please take our concerns seriously. I have photo documentation of this over the course of several years.

I wholeheartedly concur with Brian on this and I discussed the issue directly with our city's Street Dept.'s supervisory staff last year. I believe part of the issue is that the recent sidewalk survey did not report the numerous sections of low-lying sidewalk which are unusable in wet weather, forcing pedestrians to walk around, eroding lawns and the tree belt, washing soil into catch basins and nutrients into the lake. (These sections are easily identifiable by the adjacent eroded areas.) The city now employs at least one FTE and several pieces of expensive equipment clearing the catch basins and storm sewers of sediments, many of which are avoidable. This also affects the increasingly difficult traffic situation--marginally-engaged pedestrians will choose to drive themselves or their school-aged children, rather the risk cold, wet, muddy feet and footwear from just one wet area along their route.

Issue Acknowledged - An 85ft section from the corner of Intervale and Archibald to 140 Intervale has been added to the sidewalk repair list reflecting the time at which the original complaint was received.
